The Speaker's proposal for a new prime minister was put to the vote in the Chamber on 14 November. The Speaker's proposal was Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party). The Riksdag voted against the Speaker's proposal, as more than half of the members of the Riksdag; voted against him.
The Speaker Andreas Norlén received New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Rt Hon Winston Peters on 9 November.

On 12 November, the Speaker Andreas Norlén presented a proposal for a candidate for prime minister to the Riksdag. The Speaker's proposal is that the Riksdag approve Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party) as prime minister, who intends to form a government consisting of representatives of the Moderate Party and the Christian Democrats.
The Speaker is the Riksdag's principal representative, and as such directs and organises the Riksdag's work procedures.

Åsa Lindestam (Social Democratic Party) is First Deputy Speaker, Lotta Johnsson Fornarve (Left Party) Second Deputy Speaker and Kerstin Lundgren (Centre Party) is Third Deputy Speaker.
