Here we have collected information for journalists and photographers who are planning to work in the Riksdag buildings in connection with the 2018 elections to the Riksdag. Check that your media accreditation is valid In order to work in the Riksdag buildings, you need the Riksdag's media accreditation – either an ordinary accreditation or a temporary one that is valid for one day. If you already have accreditation, please check the validity period on your press pass and make sure you apply in good time if you need to apply for a new period. Accreditation Special rules for photography in the Riksdag Special rules apply to photography in the Riksdag premises. Photography is, for example, prohibited in the café and the restaurant. Taking photographs of documents on benches or on the platform in the Chamber is also prohibited. Photography 24 September - roll-call and election of the Speakers A roll-call will be held in the Chamber at 11 a.m. on Monday 24 September. This will be followed by elections of the Speakers, notification of group leaders and an election of the Secretary-General of the Riksdag. The Riksdag's ordinary rules for accreditation, photography and filming apply on this day. 25 September - the opening of the Riksdag session The official opening of the Riksdag session takes place on Tuesday 25 September at 2 p.m. The members of the Riksdag and specially invited guests will arrive at 1 p.m. The Central Band of the Swedish Army performs and the Life Guards are on parade at Riksplan. Outside the Kopparporten entrance to the East Wing of the Riksdag and in the Grand Stairway, the Kedjan Folk Dance Society and the Stockholm Association of the Deaf stand ready with their flags. The songs filling the Grand Stairway are performed by the Stockholm Chamber Choir. The members of the Royal Family will travel in procession from the Royal Palace and will arrive at Riksplan shortly before 2 p.m. where they will be met by the Speaker. The Speaker, the members of the Royal Family, the Prime Minister and others will make their way together via the Grand Stairway to the Chamber. While waiting for the ceremony to begin, the Brass Ensemble conducted by Per Sjöberg performs in the Chamber. The actual ceremony begins when the Royal Family enters. At the request of the Speaker, HM The King declares the Riksdag session open. The programme also includes music by Rigmor Gustafsson. After the ceremony, there will be a reception in the Grand Gallery in the East Wing of the Riksdag for members of the Riksdag and specially invited guests. The reception is open to the media. Media accreditation Ordinary accreditation to the Riksdag applies on this day. If you do not have the Riksdag's ordinary media accreditation, you can apply for temporary accreditation no later than 12 noon on 24 September. Please note that no applications can be processed after this time. Applications for temporary media accreditation should be submitted by e-mail to email@example.com. Include the following information in your application: name, e-mail address, telephone number, media company, personal identity number, contact information to your immediate superior. Photo locations On this occasion there will be specially allocated photo locations by Riksplan and in connection with the Chamber, which may only be used by photographers who have applied for, and been granted, photo locations. Photographers who have not been allocated photo locations can take photographs from the press gallery, space permitting. The space in the gallery is very limited. This year, the photo location at Riksplan is a temporary platform below the steps to the entrance. Photographers wishing to be allocated a place here must apply no later than 5 p.m. on 20 September. Please note that no applications can be processed after this time. Applications for photo locations should be submitted by e-mail to email@example.com. Include the media company you belong to, whether you are a still photographer, television or web photographer and whether you have any wishes regarding a specific photo location. You can also apply for temporary media accreditation in the same e-mail (if you do not have the Riksdag's ordinary media accreditation already). In this case, please include contact information to your immediate superior too. The Riksdag Administration will allocate photo locations and inform you of these by e-mail on Monday 24 September. Dress code Jacket, which means a suit with a light-coloured shirt, and a tie or bow-tie or a dress/skirt/trousers that are more elegant than regular, everyday wear. Entrance Those with media accreditation to the Riksdag (ordinary or temporary) enter via the entrance at Riksgatan 1 or 2 and pass through the security check. Staff from the Riksdag Administration will be available to provide directions and to answer any questions of a practical nature. How to follow the ceremony in the Chamber The ceremony in the Chamber can be followed; via the Riksdag webcast service at www.riksdagen.se via a television in the press lobby on floor 7 of the West Wing of the Riksdag from the press gallery (space permitting). The press gallery can be reached from the press lobby. On this occasion, the press gallery will have a limited number of places available for photographers and journalists. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that everyone will get a seat. Seats should be taken no later than 1.45 p.m. Please make sure you reach the Riksdag in good time. Bags with photo equipment may be brought into the press gallery, but not other bags or outdoor clothing. Laptops, tablets and similar devices may be brought in and worked on. Mobile phones are allowed, but should be on mute, and may not be used for telephone calls. During the ceremony in the Chamber, the Chamber Foyer will be closed to journalists and photographers between 1.45 and 3 p.m. (approximately). After the ceremony in the Chamber In order to get out: Take the lift to floor 2. In order to get to the Grand Gallery: Take the lift to floor 5 and then take the connecting room to the East Wing of the Riksdag. In order to get to the Chamber Foyer: Take the lift to floor 5. In the evening, there will be a concert at Konserthuset In the evening, there will be a concert at Konserthuset for members and guests. A photo location will be open outside Konserthuset from 6 p.m. for photographers with media accreditation to the Riksdag who want to take photos when the guests arrive. There will be a security check next to the photo location. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and is not open to the media. Before the opening of the Riksdag session: Storkyrkan and the Humanists Before the opening of the Riksdag session, the Humanists will be holding a meeting and Storkyrkan will hold a service. The accreditation to the Riksdag does not apply there.
