Today, the Speaker Andreas Norlén has given Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party) the task of exploring the possibilities of forming a government.
"I have had good discussions with all parties. Now it's time for them to negotiate on the matter of forming a government. That's why I have now given Ulf Kristersson the task of exploring the possibilities of forming a government that can be tolerated by the Riksdag", says the Speaker Andreas Norlén.
Ulf Kristersson is to provide the Speaker with a progress report no later than 9 October, and to present a final report on this task by 16 October at the latest.
On Thursday 27 September, the Speaker started the assignment of preparing a proposal for a new Prime Minister for the Riksdag to take a stand on. This assignment involves interview rounds with representatives of all the parties in the Riksdag and deliberations with the Deputy Speakers.
The Speaker met the party representatives on 27 September and 2 October, and held deliberations with the presiding officers of the Riksdag on 28 September and 2 October. The Speaker will inform King Carl XVI Gustaf of his interview assignment at 5.30 p.m. today.
